These particles bought on illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis and cardiovascular disease. These were avoidable illnesses so Adelaide started to go green.

Adelaide is now one of Australias enviromentally sustainable greenest state and they have made this progress over the past 10 years. Some of the changes that Adelaide made was making their events green friendly. For example to Clipsel 500 Adelaide (V8) are carbon neutral. some of the other great changes they have made are:
- Approxmently 800,000 earth worms are being uses to turn food waste into plant food.
- Adelaide has 500 bikes on offer in three different locations for free hire for the day.
- Adelaide is using a bus named 'Tindo' which is solar powered and has the luxuries or wifi and air conditioning.
- Lots of major business's and Government is recycling over 85% of waste.
Adelaides Hilton Hotel has even joined in on the green friendly and is now adelaides greenest hotel. They are now energy and water saving.
